For any women out there looking I have a very good report on the Savage 11 Lady Hunter.
My daughter at the age of 19 has been joining me at the range and is determined to make it into the deer woods this fall. Doing the best she could with what I had to offer, I could tell that her shooting was awkward, uncomfortable, and leaving her frustrated. She is 5'4" with a length of pull measured at 12" and every rifle I own had her breaking her neck to try and view light through the scope. She was making due and completing her target work with what would be acceptable kill shots but I could tell she wasn't connecting with any of the rifles in the way you want to connect with whatever tool your using. After some time and effort I came across the Savage model 11 Lady Hunter. It was down to that or a Weatherby Camila, really the only two I can find that are specifically catered to women. The savage won out due to a 12.5" LOP vs Camila at 13".
Ordered in we fitted the rifle with a Monarch 3 I had laying around and for 6 days she hounded me to get to the range. The rifle had a great look with a beautiful stock and for the first time she could hold a rifle without looking strained and awkward. On range day her approval showed as she doubled her typical shots fired and chewed through the ammo. Now we can work on the basics and she can begin to sharpen her marksmanship skills. Not to mention that I finally see the look in her eye that I remember having when I first began shooting with a rifle that worked for me.
If you are looking for something more suited to your size or looking for a wife or daughter, I think Savage really did a good job on this one. It is well tailored from muzzle to recoil pad just for her. In our case only a custom fit could possibly be any better. Hers is chambered in 6.5 CM and I'm pleased to announce that she now shoots MOA at 100 with an occasional 1/2 MOA group of 3.
