AA or AAA flashlight Replacement

Any recommendations to replace my sure fire G-2 LED with a flashlight that takes AA or AAA batteries for my shotgun light that's the same diameter as the surefire? I was told the flashlight had have a shock resistant head.

Let's see if I can help. First, what's motivating you to want to change from CR123A batteries to AA or AAA? Second, is your light a G2X with permanently affixed head, a G2 LED with screw off metal head on plastic body, or is it an older G2 with the screw off plastic head and an LED module?

The only one that comes to mind is the ITP SA-2. But it's a multi mode light and I think too complicated for weapon mount duty. But if you want a full size 1" diameter light the CR123 powered lights will give you more light, more runtime and far more options.

I forgot to mention the motivating factor is I 'm trying to convert all my lights to AA or AAA. Just to simplify life and cost. My CR-123 expiration date is in 2 years, I live in a wooden townhouse in a residential neighborhood. I just need enough light to light up a room for HD. current shotgun is a skeet gun with an 18" barrel and mag extension, when I'm not on the range.

iyn, I understand the desire to convert to AA. Depending on which G2 model you have conversion to AA could actually be pretty easy.

As for the AA batteries themselves, are you using (or planning to use) alkaline, lithium, or rechargeable NiMH? This actually does matter to an extent.

About a year ago I was in Batteries Plus and picked up a Nebo Redline AAA flashlight. It's a rugged little LED light the has multi settings and is extremely bright (220 lumens). It has 3 brightness settings on the beam, an SOS setting, and a strobe. For the price, its one of the best buys I've ever made.

I've been looking for good AA lights for general use for my family. I've got a Life Lite that is part of my EDC and love it. I don't think it's an inch diamiter though. I really don't like lights that take AAA batteries. My kids have gotten some as gifts from family before and they never seem to hold up well. Kids are probably pretty close to evaluating shotgun recoil right?

I plan on using lithium AAA or AA batteries for " bet your life stuff". I use enaloops for everyday high use things like remotes, games, cameras etc.

If your G2 has the removable head you could buy a low voltage P60 / D26 module, get a Surefire body extension intended to convert it to hold three CR123 batteries and instead use a home made sleeve to hold a pair of AAs. That's a fairly simple solution that actually works quite well.
