If you read the story, the guy was hanging around the front of the WalMart store stalking women who were coming out of the store.

Apparently he had followed two other women but didn't follow through because of other people around.

Surveillance video showed a man standing outside the Tyler store entrance nearly two hours before Holden was abducted, smoking and walking into the store a couple of times, police said

He finally decided on 19 yr. old Megan because

he thought he could overpower her

The man later followed Holden to her pickup truck, rushed behind her and pushed her inside before driving away, police said
.

Sad. Lots of lessons to be learned/reminded.

Sad story. Since federal law requires that a safe workplace be provided to employees, I imagine the store will face a $200 fine.

I went to Walmart for groceries in the middle of the night and saw someone hanging around by the door outside. I mentioned it to an employee inside and she said it was so-and-so who worked there. He wasn't wearing a Walmart jacket or uniform but I saw him bring in some carts when I left. I guess all I have to say is people really need to keep their eyeballs peeled. The world is full of evil people. :uhoh:

sheeple

I have to attribute part of this to Sheeple thinking.

Two women were followed by this guy, and did nothing, called no one, and just left.

Guess they were counting on someone else to be responsible and report suspicious activity.

Guess they were wrong.

Wish the price wasn't so high.

It's sort of like the general first aid or first responder principle: If you ask a crowd of people to do something, no one will. But if you point at one person and say in an authoritative voice, "YOU, go call 911" that phone is going to get picked up and used.

Sometimes YOU/I/we are the only people in the position to prevent crime. Tragically, it's a habit most people aren't into out of fear, I think. Fear of looking foolish, fear of being told to mind their own business, and fear of getting more involved when our personal best interest seems to be in flight instead of action.

I have a dream...

Thug:"I got you now B####! Just be cool and get in the van and I... No! Wait! Please dont! (scream)"

BAM BAM BAM BAM ...... BAM!

Newsie: "A woman shot and killed her would be abductor today. Upon being attacked and pulled towards a van, she pulled her concealed .38 and put four rounds into his chest as fast as she could fire it. She then put one more into his head to make sure he fell all the way down."

Newsie2: "The local sherrif is quoted as saying 'We generally frown on finishing shots, but a 130-pound woman attacked by as 280-pound paroled felon needs to make sure he is not going to continue the attack. If this county had a few more like her, my biggest job would be reviewing speeding tickets.'"

Shoot first

Tyme;
Yes I know, I spent 10 years extracting slave labor from the poor, abused, misunderstod little dears, so I keep a .45 in at least 2 places in the house and 2 shotguns in 2 more places. My motto is shoot first, find out what they want last, when some one comes banging on the door at night. ;)

Bemidjiblade,

You assume the first two women even noticed they were followed. I doubt they did.

You would think an employee would notice someone hanging out at the doorway all day though. At least a manager should have shooed him away for GP.
