I just got an ambidextrous QD sling mount that goes on the buffer tube under the castle nut. The problem I am faced with, the left and right ears where the QD plugs into, completely blocks me from using an armorers wrench to torque down the castle nut. I have included a picture so you can see what I am talking about. That ear is also on the other side, so I can't get the wrench to engage the 3 points on the castle nut to properly tighten it.

For my first lower build, all I had was common tools, no armorer's wrench. I used a hammer and punch to tighten the castle nut, then staked it. Might ding it a little, but 3 years later, it is still tight.

I'm just guessing here but it looks like that is bent. Maybe it needs to be bent back. I've never seen one like that.
It's meant to be at that angle, if I bent it out of the way, tightened the nut and bent it back it would weaken the mount.

This is what I did, however I am curious as to how the manufacturer / maker of this mount expected people to tighten the nut with that in the way....?

Guess that's why there aren't many like it on the market.
