I'm thinking about ordering some ammo from Georgia Arms in 9mm, .38 Spl, and .357 Mag. How does this stuff do? Accuracy any good? What about their Shear Power Plus? Thanks for any comments and info.

Don't be put off by the low price, GA ammo in general and Shear Power in particular is top rate.

I think Georgia Arms Shear Power is some of the best made ammo available, esp considering the price. Very consistant. I'd suggest it's better than Speer.

They are a great company with really great prices . I have been using them for years . I have the luxury of being local though so that helps.

I save up my $$$ and stock up at every gun show to save on postage. If it were easier to get my hands on (as in a couple of boxes on the way to the range) I wouldn't use anything else.

If it tells you anything, my wife's nightstand pistol, the one that I put there specifically because I get called into work in the middle of the night sometimes, is full of Shear Power Plus 124gr +P 9mm :)

GA makes very good 10mm ammunition, in my experience.

Their "remanufactured" 10mm ammo, using previously-fired brass, is reliable and can be had at a great case price ($180 for 1000rds). There have been occassional internet posts complaining of a bad primer here or there, or out-of-spec brass that caused a FTE. But by and large the reports are very positive - and that's across a range of calibers.

GA's "Shear Power Plus" (SPP) is "new" ammo using all new components, just like the big boys, but it's more affordable, at least in my area, than competing "premium" ammo. I believe shipping is free for orders over $500.

In my preferred caliber, 10mm Auto, GA uses the Gold Dot HP for its 10mm SPP, which is a great defensive bullet. They load both the 155gn GD and the 180gn GD.

Accuracy? Well, the group below, shot using the 10mm/180gn GDs, measures under an inch. (That's them in front in nickel cases).

Georgia Arms is great stuff; good company too.

I've used a coupla thousand of .45ACP, .223 REM and a few hundred 10MM of the cheap stuff.

Also, have used a few hundred of thier 9mm, 10mm, 45ACP SPP and a coupla hundred of their nosler ballistic tip .223. All been good.

Now I order reloading components from them.

:)

I've always used GA Arms in my .45 and love it. It burns relatively clean and doesn't have as sharp a kick as some others out there.

Oddly enough, having just gotten my Colt back from Yost's in AZ, I took his advice and tried some Sellier and Bellot ammo. Accuracy was even better that GAA and the recoil was very mellow.

A case of 230g FMJ picked up at the local show (Greenville or Augusta) runs me about $220.

I love GAA, but it's not markedly cheaper, if at all, than S/B. I'll be searching for some S/B when this GAA is burned up. Thanks, Ted, for the help; you can't be beat when it comes to customer service.

I concur with all of the positive reviews. I've used alot of their .45, 9mm and .223 and haven't had any issues.

When I lived in the Orlando area, I emailed them a couple of times to order some and they'd bring it along to the Orlando gunshow at the fairgrounds. Helped me avoid the hassle of shipping, as well as being a touch cheaper. You will not be disappointed.

I also think Georgia Arms makes quality ammo and their customer service is very, very good. I live in California so shipping is high but I think the ammo is worth it.

Well looks like I'll be ordering some of that fine georgian ammo. :D But I have to wait till pay day. :banghead:
