ACOG scope bargain but has a 6.8 reticle BDC

Hello,
I can buy a brand new ACOG scope for almost half off and the next closest price is $450 more. If I would buy it I would put it on a 5.56 rifle and was wondering if the BDC reticle for a 6.8 is so much greater then a 5.56 to make it worthless on my 5.56 rifle. I really like the low price and its brand new has the fiber optic on top and its the doughnut style reticle. It the real thing also because its from a famous mail order company.

That seems a hell of a deal. For that, you could take a chance and try it. It really depends on the ranges you are shooting anyway (800 ?). If you don't like it, there are plenty of 6.8 shooters out there that settled for 5.56 ACOGs and might swap ya. You have to decide it is is worth the risk.

Being vague about the supplier has probably put more people searching with Google than thinking about the reticle difference. Half off makes it sound like a $500 ACOG.

Most issue guns are 2MOA, I suspect the trajectory will be very similar out to 350m, at which point the 6.8 reticle would compensate for more drop. That makes the 5.56 shoot slightly higher.

It's been said in other comparisons about trajectories that the difference doesn't amount to more than a candy wrapper. I suspect the same here. At extreme ranges, windage and even seeing the target will be bigger handicaps.

If you and that barrel can shoot 1/4 MOA at 400m, don't bother, it might annoy you. Otherwise I'd be all over it regardless IF I wanted an ACOG.

I seriously doubt you are going to notice much difference if any. At that price I would learn to deal with it.

Amazon.com is where I found it. Keep checking amazon for ACOG and I bet you will find some great prices that must bee price mistakes.

Amazon is strange because I found a ACOG 6x48 scope for $1165.87 I bought it then was checking the sight a few hours later and the scope was back up to almost $2200.00 but they shipped it to me for the low price.

That's a great price on the TA55. I just built up a rifle, and needed an optic for it, so I stole a TA31 off of another rifle. Guess I can go put that one back, because the new rifle's getting this TA55.
