My curiosity finally got the better of me, and I ordered a Krebs aperture sight (http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=524721) for my Arsenal SGL-20 just to see if it would be an improvement. After taking it to the range twice, I have to say that I like the picture it gives me more than the stock sight. What took a little getting used to was the lack of internal height guidance, like you would get leveling the front sight with the top of a notch. However, by the end of my second session with it, I was able to make 5 (out of 5) headshots on a 1/4 size silhouette at 25 yards. I'm tempted to say that the sight may not be more accurate, but it is quicker and more comfortable for me to use. Plus I got to satisfy my curiosity, which always feels good :D

I did consider the Tech-sight, but the design makes more sense to me on something solid like an SKS, 10 22, etc. It seems a little jury-rigged with the removeable cover of an AK, and I'll admit I could be off base on that, just my initial impression. The Krebs is more of a drop-in, keeping the original look.
Regarding the Mojo, I would need to research it a little more, but all those parts and screws and pins scare me; the Krebs is one piece of steel, much like the original. (EDIT: Maybe I was only referring to the MicroClick model)
And BTW, I'll be the first to admit that this is not like the second coming or anything, just a little tweak, but a noticeable and helpful one. I could have gotten along without it, but it's a nice addition.

I've been considering one of those for a while because I really dislike the rear sights on the AK, I'll have to check out the Mojo too since the price is what's been keeping me from having the krebs thus far.

The adjustable mojo is a rock solid piece of equipment. I had one on my AK for 1000s of rounds. Installation and removal requires 3 hands, but isn't too bad once you get the hang of it. Much easier to adjust it than the front sight on an AK.

I eventually replaced it with the stock sight after I started picking up a few more ARs. While the peep sight picture is much more accurate, the stock sight picture is fast enough and I prefer it for running and gunning with the AK.

Kymasabe, thanks for the link. I remembered this sight but couldn't recall who made it.

I've always viewed the AK rear sight as less than desirable. My Galil has the peep mounted on the top cover and holds a zero just fine while giving a sight picture more familiar to those experienced with western battle rifles.

For my AK-74 I put tech sights on it and then pulled them off. they held zero just fine, but even with the longer NATO length stock the rear sight was too far back for me. I quit fooling with it when I realized I was trying to turn an AK-74 into an AR-15 and I already have one of those.

Anybody planning on changing rear sights on an AK more than once should invest in a "campy sight tool" from Red Star Arms. Makes life easy.

My thinking exactly. I like the basic AK set-up for what it is, just wondered what it would be like a little tweaked. If I was seriously focused on a longer sight radius w/a peep, I'd probably invest in an M1 or an AR w/irons.
