Advice-- Nikon ProStaff won't fit Savage 110

I got a new Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40 for Christmas and a Lead Sled as well. Got out my 110, took off the cheap Simmons scope only to find that the tube on the Nikon is too short for the base/rings I have. I went to Cabela's looking for a solution but they were pretty well picked over so it looks like I'm going to have to order something online so I thought I'd your input. What's my best option? The only catch is I'm left handed so any solution would have to take that into consideration (one piece base).

I sure someone out there has been in my position. I sure could use your advice.

It's not a case of the scope won't fit--you simply don't have the correct rings. Easy to correct!

Hmmmm. Well, if that's the case-- and I sure hope it is cause that would be an easy fix-- then it looks like I need rings that move about a half inch closer to the center of the breech.

You can buy offset, or extension, rings where the ring sits about 1" behind the base. Something like this:

I was in the same boat. I also had to find some that were also windage adjustable to work with my Savage 110 and a Burris scope.

What type of base do you have? If a weaver type, you may be able to reverse the front base to move the ring back a bit. I have been known to cut slots where I need them on the base as well.

Most manufacturers sell offset rings, but it's a more expensive solution.
