Aftermarket Magazines

I've had nothing but trouble with these things. I bought a 30-round one for my SKS, it worked okay, but I could only get 15 rounds in the thing, half of what it supposedly could carry. Had the same problem with the Eagle 30 round magazines I bought for my 10/22. Actually, those were worse. Could only cram 15 rounds in, and they jammed. Actually had to throw one away along with several rounds because the ammo wouldn't come out! :banghead: So, I've sworn off aftermarket mags....anyone else have similar problems?

Ah, so you've reached the same conclusion as others, including myself, have from first hand experience.

Always good to learn new things and form opinions from them, particularly from first hand experience. No need to get angry. Also a good impetus to do more research before buying other aftermarket stuff.

Live and learn. But I am a bit peeved that I pretty much flushed $20-30 down the toilet.

Aftermarket mags for SKS have been almost always given the thumbs down. I never bought any Eagle stuff for the 10/22. I did get a few 20 and 30 round Ramlines though, a few years ago before any restrictions. They generally work fine for me, unless I try zipping through ammo too fast, then they jam sporadically. I also think the small pin on the one end is too fragile looking. None of mine have snapped off but others have from what I've read on different forums. Butler Creek mags are pretty good, and thats reflected in their price. I have a hotlips, and want to try a steellips version. The Ramline loader doesn't work well with Butler Creek or Ruger mags. Its a lifesaver with Ramline mags though.
