THE CHAIR IS AGAINST THE WALL
Does anyone make a scope cover that attaches to an Aimpoint Micro?

The rubber covers that come with the scope aren't all that useful, since you have to keep track of them. I'd like something that can be attached to the scope either permanently or semi-permanently.

The closest thing that I've found is the mount made by GG&G, but I don't want to buy an entirely new mount since I'm already happy with the LaRue scope mount I'm using currently.

If your still interested in a flip up scope mount, I have a solution. PM me if you are interested or know people that are still interested. Its a lot cheaper then the GG&G solution.

The GG&G mount is very nice mount no doubt. However, my solution is roughly 25 dollars and would be an ideal solution to those who have already invested in a DD or Larue mount.

I have the GG&G but would not if bought separately. I got mine as a deal price and getting the mount, covers, and sight were less than buying the sight alone.

I have not come across any other commercial version. I look occasionally as I have 3 of them and don't like trying to keep up with the rubber bikini covers.

Why the secrecy? what is the "solution"?
No secrets here, I just wanted to gauge interest to see if I should make more. I should have just explained the part from the get go. Basically it's an adapter that gets threaded to the tooling holes of the eye piece. It's made on my cnc machine with tight tolerances.

I am very interested. I have a few questions:

What kind of tool do I need to install them?

Do I they replace an existing part?

Does this affect the interior at all (void the nitrogen purge or something)?

What size covers does it take?

What do you charge for a set?

You use a special M2.5 bottoming tap to mate the adapter to the optic.

I kept it as an add on piece because I did not want to mess with the actual mechanics and reliability of the optic.

I used #1 objective flip ups from butler creek. They are a perfect fit.

Currently Im still trying to find the perfect price point but so far 25-30 is where it is since the only other option is 150-200.

Do you have anyone that may also be interested? I'll probably run of a few more this time around.

It may possibly. I think it depends if they feel you are "repairing or tampering" with the sight itself. I haven't had to deal with a warranty claim through Aimpoint yet so I do not know for sure.

I would suspect that most manufacturers are going to be reluctant to perform a warranty
swap on a unit that can't be returned to an "as originally manufactured" appearance. (After factoring in normal wear and scratches).

So using existing holes and structures is one thing, but once you start adding holes or other machining the line has been crossed. {sigh}

Too bad, I would like to have flip-up caps.

Sorry, but if I have to alter the optic I'm out.

I guess I'll just have to wait until Magpul or someone else develops some kind of cage device that snaps in place over the Micro.
