Airgun Traps

I have a cardboard box that holds (5) 5-gallon pail lids vertically; no pellet makes it past the fourth, all the pellets get collected in the bottom (or lodged in the lids inside). Have a pic of a squirrel (life-size) from an old calendar as my target.

Great, so many good ideas that are simple and inexpensive.

Here's one I bought 20+ years ago for about $20. May be difficult to see in the picture, but there is a rod in there that used to have swinging animal silhouettes. Now long lost. Just fill it with paper and tape a target on it. Stops bbs and pellets that way. IMG_20210215_195751354.jpg There is another built from scrap wood, unfortunately it's currently outside buried in the snow.

I use the rubber mulch too. I put it in a plastic bin with snap on lids. Cut out the middle of the lid and put a piece of cardboard under the lid to hold the mulch in and fasten a target to. I have two sizes, a small one for indoor at 12 yds and a bigger one for outdoors 20yds. My small one is only 6-7 inches deep and it stops an HW97 .20 cal easily.

In the back yard I use 2 straw bales stacked, with a rubber door mat hanging behind for shoot thru shots. In the garage I made a plywood backed 2x4 box lined with duct seal which makes it very quiet.

I use a old cooler filled with dirt behind that is our wood pile. And behind that us our shed. Behind that is our wooden fence. Behind that is our neighbors house. Works good so far. As far as I know nothing has made it past the cooler. When its worn out will replace with something different.

I used to use a trap but it made too much noise and scares the dog. Wimpy dog that he is. So now I just use paper. There is nothing behind the fence to hit. Well except for a rabbit I didn't see. I hit him and he jumped a mile last summer. He was not worse for wear since he was a pretty good distance off. Made me feel bad all night. So now I look behind the fence for critters before I open fire.

I am the same way, won't harm any creatures unless I absolutely have to. I leave that to people that hunt.
