Well any high profile incident involving a gun. I'm not just talking about this bill, i'm talking about this and every other piece of anti-gun legislation out there. I just don't understand why they don't get it.

C'mon guys and gals; this is Alabama and Gov. Bob isn't

about to sign this garbage. The wack-jobs whose names appear hereon are well-known to be wack-jobs by their fellow state-congress critters.

This thing has the chance of that well-battered ice cube in that HOT place.

P.S.: It's been mentioned here before, as someonw above has alluded.

Rep. Todd:

Have you lost your everloving mind????....What kinda CRAP is this. How Dare you sponser a bill that TRAMPLES my 2nd amendment right. You CANNOT be serious.
You must not like your job or the people you represent. Stop what your doing.....take a look around.....look at what state you are in......This is ALABAMA, not California!!!!!
If these are the stances you're gonna take on gun control, please relocate yourself and your entire family to California or taxxachussets and Leave my Great State of Alabama ALONE!!!!!

-------------------------------------------------

Too harsh, ya think????

I've often wondered what good does regisration of any weapon, including a full auto do to prevent crime or criminal use?

doesn't prevent crime at all. Lenin said it best:

"cause the registration of all firearms on some pretext, with the view of confiscating them and leaving the population defenseless." --Vladimir Ilich Lenin

Here is the response I got back from her:

Thank you for the time you took out of your day to contact me and share your opinion of a bill I sponsored [HB600] that would require registration of semi-automatic weapons in Alabama.

I am writing to express my appreciation to you and to advise you that having now spoken with many interested folks like yourself about this bill during the past week, I have made the decision to let this legislation die in committee. To this end I have already spoken with the Committee Chair to NOT bring this bill up for consideration. (Once a bill is assigned a number you can not withdraw it, but the sponsor can ask that it die in committee).

Although you may have never heard this before from a politician, I hope this one act assures you that your opinion--and those of others--on this bill, its intent and its consequences truly matter to me.

In first introducing this legislation my goal was to try to give law enforcement officers tools to seize un-registered weapons from individuals who would use such guns for violent crimes. While I know that we agree on safety in our neighborhoods, we must continue the dialogue about how we can do this so as to develop a reasonable comprehensive plan that effectively reduces violence in urban areas.

I hope you will join me in that conversation down the road so that together we can work toward developing solutions that work for everyone--solutions that matter.

Thank you again for sharing your concerns and I hope to be able to count on you down the road by working with me in assuring the safety of our communities.

Somebody needs to tell Ms. Todd that violent criminals aren't allowed to have guns, registered or otherwise. And that since violent criminals commit violent crimes (hence the term), and that police can already take any weapon they find in the hands of criminals away from them, she'd be better off coming up with a bill that registered and banned THE CRIMINALS, rather than wasting her time on nonsense that has absolutely no effect on anybody but HONEST LAW-ABIDING people.

On second though... nevermind. That'd make too much sense and would go right over her head.

Ms Todd wishes to work with you

Therefor, let her know that nothing would be more helpful than to remove all of the "victim disarmament zones" from Alabama law and ensure that no one is allowed to designate their own "victim disarmament zones."

She apparently believes that there is such a thing as trustworthy firearms owners. Ask her to put her money where her mouth is.

Could something like this pass in a place as deeply rooted in gun rights as Alabama? You bet it can. All it takes is complacency on the part of gun owners. One carpetbagging New Jersey yankee moves to the south, gets elected to office and voila, an instant endless supply of anti gun laws proposed. All of which will require effort on the part of honest citizens to defeat. Two things need to happen. Bills like this must be soundly defeated, and more importantly the shystering carpetbaggers who cook this crap up must be identified, removed from office and introduced to an old recipe involving the use of tar, feathers and rails.
