Gonna build an AR, just wondering if it was worth it to spend an extra $50 for the alum float tube...I don't plan on precision shooting, but this will probably be my only gun for a long while, and I don't want to regret not getting one.

What do you think?

It depends on your shooting style. If you're planning on shooting for accuracy (a few rounds at a time) it might be a worthwhile addition, but if you like to 'plink' and/or shoot 100+ rounds at a time, it will get too hot to hold with bare hands.

Definitely not a good idea for a defense rifle.

I have the Hogue setup on an SPR I'm currently building. It really made a difference in the accuracy of the rifle. The Colt started as an Hbar A3 20", and sot well, but not great. i thought it was the reload formula, but after changing to Free float, WOW what a difference!!!!:D
