This maybe an oddball question but does anyone know if any of the plastic ammo boxes such as RCBS makes will fit the .500 S&W?

Thanks,

tt

i've been going nuts looking for a box for my 480 ruger. when/if you find one, please post so i can get one, too.

as long as we are talking ammo boxes... i need one that will hold 100 wsm cartridges... any help here, too?

This is the answer I received from Midway.

Thank you for your e-mail. I do show the listing for 500 S&W plastic ammo boxes as the 510 box. I have
product # 729-544 (single blue box - $1.79), # 133-042 (10 pack blue - $14.99), # 488-010 (single smoke box - $1.79),
# 607-134 (10 pack smoke - $14.99), # 498-785 (single red box - $1.79), and # 712-215 (10 pack red - 14.99).

WHat's the point behind ammo boxes? All my pistol ammo I just dump into an ammo can bulk, then scoop it out into tupperware when I go to the range. Am I missing something here?

Maxinquaye: i unload the revolvers and put the empties back in the box. it keeps me a little organized, not a lot, but a little. if you keep a round count, it helps a lot. dif colors for dif calibers is a plus when loading my shooting bag. maybe it does keep me organized. im not going to think about it, just keep on keeping on. oh, when a round pops out of my LnL AP, i wipe it off witk a hand towel, admire it momentarily and put it in an appropriate box. boxes are very useful to me.

Thanks hos - was not trying to be disparaging, just seeing if I was missing out on anything :)

So far, ammo cans, tupperware and ziplocks has worked for me. I keep empty primer boxes for a total round count on my press, and beyond that who knows?

I use ammo boxes to count and organize. I also write my load data on them as I'm always experimenting and it lets me know if those were the target loads or the ones bumping up against max data.

When I cranked out 1500 .40 S&W target loads the other day they went into a tray as I loaded to count and check primers, then into the ammo can each time the tray filled up :)

reloader's bench in mt juliet, tn has several .50 s&w boxes in stock. i stopped in wednesday afternoon on my way to the airport, looking for .480 ruger boxes. (dakotasin, i feel your pain)

we put some hornady 325g in the .50 s&w boxes, but i didn't like the fit very well. the box is too tall, which gives the cartridge a lot of room to bang back and forth.

Maxinquaye:

They don't load and/or shoot as much as you and I do, evidently.

I load my .38match wadcutters/semiwadcutters or 9mm w/115jhps in quantities of 1,000 or more and after sometimes tumbling/vibrating them to remove excess lube, dump them into an empty .50BMG can w/cardboard lining in bottom. Emptys go into another can, and then back into tumbler when full.

I can't imagine anyone shooting 300-500+rds a day at a match with a .500 however!! (two 1500's; dististinguished revolver., service rev., service auto, dististinguished auto, and occasionally off-duty revolver. Indeed, a day full of shooting!)

So, to keep them separated , the 20-50rd boxes must be convienent.
