in the uk 100 x .22rf rounds is now £7 ($14usd)
a box of 20 x federal .30-06 powershok rounds is £22-25 ($45-50)

outrageous, but a good time to have shares in federal or cci

Simply we are witnessing the beginning of a rich /poor society where only the wealthy can have hobbies, I know many will disagree however having lived through many changes past 65 years I cannot see anyway out of our present mess, my big regret is not purchasing more reloading components 10 years ago.:)

Yes, and if we think it is bad now, just wait-a week, 6 mo, 2 yrs-6 yrs---yuk.

The dollar is sure going dowm the tube.

I reload, and cast, because of this. I couldn't afford to shoot, if I didn't do both.
Same here. I have been reloading for around two years and haven't bought factory ammo since I started. Now with the price of components going up I am starting to cast. I will be casting for everything I shoot except my AR 15. I have enough bullets to last me for a little while for it.:D Here is 7,800 55 grain for plinking and I have a few thousand better bullets put away.

We were just having a discussion about the .44 Special on another forum and somebody put up a link to the .44 Special ammo selection over at Midway. I guess it's been a while since I priced factory ammo, but the basic stuff was approaching a dollar a round. Specialty loads were more than double that.

Unless one owns a single 9mm or .38 Special for defense and occasional practice, I do not understand how the average gunny can afford his hobby without being a handloader.

I'm in sales, and pay my own gas. Gas just hit $4.00+ here today. Between my wife and I, we paid $1,100 on gas cards last month. This next year, our gas will be over $14,000.

in the uk the price of petrol is over $10usd per gallon. My uncle Bob used to be a haulier. It was cheaper for him to take his tractor units accross to france and fill them in france and come home on the ferry. the government tax us to about 85%. they are schemimg villians. Bob is no longer a trucker. our farms and all of our industry are being crippled by this. I run a jeep diesel and i run it on cooking oil and diesel

Have you looked into whether or not you can get that written off as a business expense?
