A recent thread re: semi-auto copies of FA firearms got me thinking again; yep, that's a big problem.
For those that just HAVE to be different, there is an alternate way to approach this.
This fall I was Jons'ng over a pristine C96 with shoulder stock and papers, but I couldn't justify the $4500 price tag. After realizing that I'd probably just shoot it once or twice and then hang it on the wall, I searched the Arigun forum right here. Seems that Umarex has a "Legends" series of BB guns that might work.
I settled for an M712 Legends from Umarex for $129.00. Have to say it was an amazing all metal copy with the weight, feel, and operation close to an original. A + was that it came with a selector switch that offered semi and full auto. Darn thing was so much fun to shoot that I went right back and picked up an MP-40. That one was even more fun.
Now the grandkids and I can bounce tin cans all over the place and, at 10yds, they're are both quite accurate and powerful. Not my old red rider by a long shot. Both are the only FA arms that I'll ever afford to own and shoot, and still fit in well with my other military arms hanging on the office wall.
