I know Nat Geo is known on this board for its misrepresentation of guns, gun laws, etc. but I just saw another and I'm fuming. If it's been covered, I apologize.

It was an episode of Explorer, titled "Narco State." They started in with the whole "Mexican drug cartels get all the guns from America" malarkey. They evidenced this by showing first a Colt M-16 with affixed M203 grenade launcher. A Mexican man who worked at the police station held up the confiscated weapon and showed the receiver to the camera man showing it was made in the USA. Then he picked up an actual M-60, and M-60 yes, and explained how that was made in America is well. Then they flip to America's gun shops and say how our lax laws are allowing guns M-16's and M-60's into Mexico, where gun laws are very strict.

Are they freaking kidding? Not sure about your gun shops, but I've never been to one that was selling M-16's with M-203's and M-60's. It's unbelievably disingenuous for them to leave out the all-too-inconvenient fact that those are military weapons given to the Mexican military. Somehow our lax gun laws are to blame for the US military providing guns to Mexicans who desert their military.

Last time I checked, you couldn't just walk into your local gun store and walk out with an M-16 or M-60. There's a little bit more to it than that.

The way the media handles almost anything gun related always makes me wonder what else they are just completely making up as they go.

I got tired of the constant global warming harping and dropped it this year. One more reason not to renew.

The new show, Wild Justice, on nat geo gives hunters and gun owners a horrible image. It appears we all are poachers and violate gun laws. Thanks nat geo!

Write them a letter/email, point out the erroneous facts to them.
Sounds like a plan. Write up a sample letter to the network and post it in Activism, along with the addresses, phone numbers and email addresses of the contact people.

Complaining here doesn't accomplish anything.

Get folks moving (writing, calling, emailing, etc.) and that just might do some good!
