I have a year-'round clock feeder by my house, which scatters hen scratch for the quail and doves. The rock squirrels and antelope squirrels also think the free lunch is a Good Thing, and the ravens occasionally stop in.

I've mentioned before that a couple of foxes have sometimes stopped by the feeder. They'll lick up some of the cracked corn. Then, later on in the night, they'll come up on my porch and deposit evidence that foxes don't digest corn. Duh?

Just over a week back, something came up during the night and right in front of my front door, upchucked a goodly amount of both corn and milo from the feeder. Again, duh? Whodunnit? I dunno.

So I'm letting it dry, during the day, so it'll sweep away more easily. I make a run to the post office and do an errand or so, and when I get home, the grain is gone. As near as I can guess from what critters were around during the day, the ravens had spotted the grain and "played janitor". I guess.

Weirdly...

The motto of all canines is "If by any chance it could be food, eat it. If it's not food, it'll come out one way or the other."

See also, tiger sharks.
