Another Attempt to Ban Lead Bullets

Arsenic, lead, oil (the black, smelly stuff gasoline comes from), methane, many other known poisons, they are all found naturally in the earth and in the air -- yet lead is somehow, according to many here, the only on in this list that is 100% safe, even in the "miniscule" amounts found in the ground of the average shooting range, because it is used to make bullets. Interesting viewpoint.

More damage will be done to the environment by the recent switch to mercury laden light bulbs than will ever be done by lead bullets. But by all means, quibble away. That's what this administration wants us to do. Be aware, ladies, that this has nothing to do with environmental concerns. But as Micro says, I hope we can "survive the cleanup". Whatever that means.

Isnt the Auto industry still the biggest lead polluter in the world?

Doubt they are attempting to go after them.

The crap we flush down our drains or wash off our driveways will have a larger effect than trying to recover hunting bullets.
If you really want your head to spin take a good look at what it takes to make the wires in your house or computer, or the steel in your car not to mention the leather in your shoes or batteries for cars, smoke detectors, flashlights. Any of these eclipse the hazard of lead bullets buy astronomical numbers.
I don't want to live in a world without any of those things but when you look at the big picture it is purely a control issue with the people citing the science and environment being happily used by those who want the control.

The mercury in light bulbs can be taken care of IF people bother to have their used light bulbs recycled. Same with steel, copper wires, etc. The problem there is that the majority of people will still just toss something in the trash bin just because it's broken - or worse, not wanted.

Lead bullets being ingested by the ducks, geese and deer being hunted by y'all is very different. And yes, I use lead bullets, too, because it's what I can afford.

Lead bullets from a deer is no problem it does not get into the blood stream causing lead poising.

Lead ingested by a duck or goose is an entirely different situation as birds have a gizzard which can grind the lead pellet so as it can be taken into the blood stream. However it my understanding there has yet to be a water fowl found dead from lead poising. So who's to say. The Government??????????????????????????????????

Regarding lead from firing ranges the U.S. Army did a major study a few years ago and found it to be a non-issue.

And NO it does not leach into the ground water.

A USGS report on lead poisoning

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried hard. The deaths of many birds (Millions? Possibly, but then again, I haven't counted them) for over 100 years have been directly linked to lead poisoning. Do some research. This isn't something some liberal quack going after guns invented out of thin air.

Also, I would suggest leaving out the red herring fallacies of light bulbs and parking lots. Neither have anything to do with lead poisoning.
