I voted.
Yet another example of how many American Citizens do not understand the reasoning behind the 2nd amendment. We MUST do a better job educating our youth about what happened in history. The Founding Fathers of our country, the folks that came up with our entire system of government used the Constitution to set the boundaries within which the government was going to be allowed to exist. They had lived first hand under a government that had gotten too big, and too controlling. Our culture of entitlement has led to a large portion of our citizens believing we are somehow entitled to being 'looked after' by our government. On the contrary, it's the other way around, we're supposed to look after our government, and keep it in check so it doesn't become too big. As a whole, we have gotten lazy, and the big monster government will gobble up all the power we allow it too.
Folks, when President Obama spoke at his inaugural address, he spoke about change, and he spoke about Americans changing our mindset and our daily habits, and not being so dependant on the government. Everyone cheered, and the very next day, everyone went back to looking for handouts from the government. Pretty sad.
I did not vote for him. But I am an American, and a patriot. I want to see our country prosper, and to that end, I wish him success in doing what he can to help restore prosperity to this great country I am proud to call home. Sadly, I don't think his actions since the election have taken us in the right direction. But that's just my opinion, based on my value system.
The cost of freedom is eternal vigilance.
