Based on this thread from 2005 and pertaining to the acquisition of sub-$200.00 9mm autos. Now we have five years under our belt and a few more choices, so I'm wondering if the field has changed any. Some of the contingent mentioned were--

Hi-Point 9mm ...use oven mits when touching this topic
Makarov 9x18 ...seems well regarded
Star 9mm ...No longer supported for parts as I understand
Jimenez Arms ...Severe reliability issues noted
Bryco/Jenning ...Similar issues, re-branding?

Strikeout bbcode wouldn't work on those last two :p

So, what else? I know you'll want to spend a few extra dollars to get pistol 'x'. Please don't. Consider it a challenge to keep this under $200 :D Of course, if this thread is a tad redundant, you know what to do :)

I don't think Maks are under $200 any more. Also I think you can add cz 82 to the list now. Mark

If you really must get a 9mm firearm under $200...then get the Hi-Point. They are American made, you can get one NIB well under $200 and best of all actually get it repaired if something is or goes wrong with it.

Yeah, in 9mm x19, you have basically the hipoint, maybe a used Keltec P11
most other 9x18mak guns are less than 200 if you know where to look

At that price range, choices are alot more limited then just 5 years ago. The Hi Point is about it, NIB. EAA's M88 from Zastava comes close, but is still over $200.
9x18 pistols are out there, the CZ82, the FEG PA63, the Polish P64(my favorite of the 3).
Somebody needs to find some good 9mm milsurps and import them soon. We need some good budget priced 9mm's again.

If you want a quality pistol for under $200, it's going to be chambered in 9x18. Makarovs are about $230 these days, but CZ-82's are under $200 from CDNN and PA-63's are $150 from SOG.
