I recently obtained a Browning A5, Standard 16 Gauge. I verified with Browning's customer service that the date of manufacture was 1939.
My question is, the stock is about 1 1/2" shorter than the A5 12 light I have (made in 1960).
I know they are 2 different gauges, and 21 years apart in age, but can anyone tell me if the A5's made in the 30's, specifically the standard 16, had shorter stocks, or even better, what the length "should be"?
There appears to be no modifications that it was shortened, and has original butt plate.
Thanks in advance
