Another good range day, the Diamondback definitely needs a mainspring

Had my new shooter out again this afternoon for some 22 revolver fun. Her Glock 48 finally came in Friday, but she got her first taste of frustration....the dreaded delay. No sweat, she'll have it this week, no worries. My little 22 revolvers are really doing wonders for her skills, she is getting pretty darn good, vast improvement every session. She says that she is glad to be given the opportunity to learn and practice with my Single Six and recently acquired Diamondback, and honestly can't think of a better way to get someone stated on handguns than a 22, revolver or auto.
So I picked up the plated Diamondback a few weeks or so back, and when I first took it out back, I found it would light hit about every other case in the cylinder in double action. Of course, got to thinking to myself no damn wonder I got the thing for about quarter the asking price I've seen recently on the broker, it must be ganked. Well, where does one turn to try and get a cause and solution.....the search feature at the top of this screen. Following advice given to another by @dfariswheel and a few others, it pointed to the mainspring. Some of the advice given was try different ammo. Well, I did just that today. I went to some remington instead of the Aguila I've been using in everything lately, and we started getting proper function with a light hit occasionally. Back to the Aguila, light hit about every other case. Being this gun is close to 50 yr old, I went ahead last week and bought a new factory colt spring from Numrich, which is here and ready to install. After today, I'm very confident that'll clear up the problem. I'll get on that at some point this week, I just need to make sure I get the proper size driver bits, which the mentioned member gave the sizes needed in one of his posts.
Moral of this story....that search feature is your friend, you'll get what you need to know.
I also had the Bisley Blackhawk 45 Colt out for its first appearance on the range in a while. That 8.1gr load of True Blue and a 255 SWC are just lights out combo in this revolver, better than i can shoot it. Finished my session with it blasting a gallon jug of water for a big splash. Lots of fun on my "super" sunday

 on your day out.

Back just after the dinosaurs going out of business I shot a plated diamondback until I became affluent enough to buy a single six. As I remember it is was dependable with the ammo of that era and I don't have a clue now if it had a flat or coil hammer spring. From it's cost I am guessing flat and since you posted saying you ordered a colt spring I suppose it is or is colt a misprint of coil. I'm confused as to why you would order a colt spring for an old diamondback revolver. Whatever, I hope it cures your problem.

The revolver is a Colt Diamondback in 22 LR.
Tis all better now, fairly simple procedure to change it out.
