Another one joins the ranks! (Also related to John Stossel's piece)

Well, some of you might remember me writing a few weeks ago about getting a former co-worker out to the range for his first hands on experience with real weapons. He was talking about getting a handgun for HD on the way home but told me his wife vetoed the idea the next day. "No guns in this house!" and all that.

Well.... things have changed. Being a level minded fellow, and his wife seemingly having some sense of logic in her, she's come around and he's handgun shopping now. What brought about the change? Well, I'm sure it has something to do with him presenting a logical case... but John Stossel's report on 20/20 was directly involved!

After that piece, and some prodding from her husband, he's "cleared" to purchase a handgun. Hoooorah! He can't divert funds from the "general money" account though, so he'll be selling off an old laptop to get the first one. Maybe it'll be the only one, who knows. I sure hope not, becuase a shotgun would be much better for HD but he'd also like something for CCW if he ever feels the need. I think he got bit by the bug. He looooooved shooting that AR-15

I'm pretty geeked. Actually I'm really geeked. Not only did I get a fence-sitter over, but there's two converts now, and I got a new shootin' buddy!

I'll start a thread in autoloaders about what you'd recommend. More details to follow.

You must be feeling pretty good

At least some major media outlets there occasionally give a fair presentation of KBA.

On this side of the Pacific, that would be next to unheard-of.
The generation that understood the use and value of firearms is getting old in my country, and the present 2-3 generations that have taken over are largely-weaned on anti-gun, totalitarian-control drivel.

Our 'John Stoessel' might be the crime rate.
Since it's in our faces day in and day out, there's just enough pragmatic counterweight to liberal dogma, to maintain a KBA presence in the population.

Glad that logic can still win the day too ...... and heaven knows, just seeing what Horge wrote .. we need all the new blood we can muster ... else the RKBA deal is gonna slip steadily downhill.

HAHA ! that's pretty good stuff for a beginning enthusiast ! Good job Gigabuist ! I really get a kick out of whipping out the black rifle for a "first shoot" . I only pull that on select individuals though, not everyone can handle it. Congrats on the new "shootin' buddy" !!!!!!
