This is a four part thread, one is a picture request for anyones Anvil Arms AR-15. Two is I need to know which barrel to get, the M4 style or the Hbar (both in 16") Three is I wan't to know what what is better, Eotech or Aimpoint. Lastly I would like any feedback on Anvil Arms quality. Are they comparable with Bushmaster? I think if they are of good quality, I think that I have found a real gem, an AR that is good and affordable. Thanks in advance.

That's a 4 page argument there. "Better" for what? They are not for the same purposes so neither is "better" than the other.

The first thing everyone will want to know is what you intend to use the rifle for.

what are you talking about texas.........eotechs suck. get an aimpoint.

I didn't know I'd wandered into a Church of the Aimpoint service....
Must have forgotten it's Sunday.

I guess silly things like how big MOA dot you want, do you want it to be NVG compatible, do you have battery availability issues, are you looking for a magnifying optic to go with it, do you have a preference for reticle style, what kind of mount are you looking for?.....

I mean, Aimpoint clearly wins if you want it to be NVG compatible right?

The Aimpoint has a 2+MOA dot and the Eotech has a 1MOA dot. That's not good or bad, just very different.
One isn't better than the other, they do similar things and have a few differences which is sort of the point of asking about the intended use.

How dare me actually try to think of what the OP wanted to do when we're clearly having a religious moment here.......
Aimpoint is a fine optic, but not the only choice. I have one of each.

Not to much need for NV but I want to add the FTS magnifier. I like the Eotechs and that is mainly what I have been looking at but I just thought I would check.

I like EOTechs, personally, though I'll be the first to admit both designs have their own respective strengths and weaknesses. There are a bunch of opinions out there on either side of the argument, ranging from the airsoft kids and guys who "used" one while playing Ghost Ninja Recon Raider VII or whatever on the Xbox up to and including lots of guys who've been downrange with one, or both, in conventional and SOF units.

End of the day, the one that works better for you, or has the features you want/need is the right answer for you.

The FTS is very expensive, more than the sight cost in the first place.

The Aimpoint mag is also expensive but about 200 bucks less so there's that going for it.

Now there is another optic you might consider if you want both magnified and non-magnified with a dot and that's the Leupold CQ/T.

You will find even more religious opinion on that optic for some reason. It has a 1.1-3x zoom and it's made of some VERY strong metal but opinions vary on what people think of it.

I have one on a rifle and I like the optic very much but some people REALLY hate them.

Something to consider anyway, and it's going to be much less $$ than one of the above optics with its matching external magnifier.

Definitely get the M4 barrel. It makes for a lighter, handier, more responsive carbine. If you need an HBAR for accuracy, there are other things to do first (match barrel, free float, better trigger, better ammo).

I was THIS close to buying an EOTech and then I came across this:
http://www.jobrelatedstuff.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=18&t=374769
-EOTech released a faulty product
-Refused to admit it was faulty
-Gave customers the runaround
-Finally admitted problems
-Have yet to make it right after 2 months
And then you have Pat Rogers chiming in with EOTech durability problems. That's enough for me to forget EOTech. It's a shame too, because I really like the 65/1 reticle.

It's a few shekels more, but I'll be getting an Aimpoint. Probably the C3 since I won't be scuba diving with it. Battery life is awesome compared to EOTech and they don't have the turn-off issues some EOTech users report.
