Is there any 150 gr 308 FMJBT other than Hornady? Midway only lists Hornady for 150gr FMJBT. Can I assume 150 gr FMJs are commercial grade, not military. See unnamed 150 gr FMJs from time to time, like the one in link below, not sure if commercial grade or military grade. I have plenty 147 gr M80 FMJs already, don't need more military grade plinking bullets. I also have 168 gr HPBT that shoots very well, like to try commercial 150 gr cheap FMJ.

Sierra makes great bullets; might find better prices somewhere?

I shot a ton of IMI's for practice years ago. They were copper jacket then, these do not specify, so I'd ask. I don't like to put steel jackets through a match barrel.

I don't think Nosler makes a .308 FMJ but their blems are first class in any caliber/bullet type I've tried and I've used them exclusively for hunting of 30 years. Their blems/overruns shoot great/excellent terminal performance and I've yet to actually find a blemish on one.

Widener's is a good source. Not sure of jacket material on these bullets but not bad price and ratings aren't bad.

In my experience the Hornady are the most accurate of the genre. My Match Garand and 03-A3, shoot under 1.5moa to 600yds with Hornady. My CMP Special Garand is under 2moa.
I seat them to 3.25"oal, instead of the 3.170" that Hornady suggests. Sierra is VERY proud of their FMJ's. $35/100. 2x the Hornady.

None of the 147gr FMJ have shot under 3moa.

For best price on Hornady, try T.J. Conevera. Grafs is close behind if you buy in bulk. $.17-.20 each, shipped. I shoot them in the G,S, matches at 200yds.
Use the "Mouse" gun for EIC, OTC. 80gr M.K. at 600, 75gr Hornady at 200,300. $.15 vs $.30 for M.K. Can't shoot the difference at 2-300. Still shoot Irons. Haven't sprung for a scope. Rules are still in too much flux...

This...

I've tested alot of FMJBTs in the last few years, and for both 223 and 308, I get the results with Hornady. They simply are the most consistent weight and the bullet base is always formed correctly.

Any current production military 150 gr 308 projectiles? I forgot about 30-06 M2 flat based but is there current production military 30-06 ammo with 150 gr projectile? Can I assume 150 gr 308 projectiles, BT or flat based are commercial? I guess PPU is "commercial grade", may not be the best but should be still better than military bullets. If buying new, I would just buy Hornady, there are unnamed and pulled 150 gr out there!

150gr have pretty much dried up. What there is, is crap, mostly.

If you're into just blasting, the 147's are ok. Just don't expect predictable accuracy. CMP still has a little Greek HXP.
I'd rather roll my own. I successfully shoot/compete against the guys using it.

Been out of competition for nigh on to 20 years so things could very well have changed, but used to could count on the 147 IMI's ability to clean the 100 yd reduced targets (all but the 600 yd reduced, but I never practiced prone SF) w/the 147 IMI's (again, 20 years ago) If I held tight enough. I shot thousands of them in my bolt guns and match grade .308 & M1 garands offhand and the RF strings over the years. Disclaimer: Don't get me wrong, I do hold HM classification but have never cleaned an offhand target w/ANY bullet :(, but the rifles/ammo would if I could have.;) Have cleaned them (in practice) of S&P RF, however. Having said that, I always shot SMK's (as much for the mental aspect as anything) in the matches and only practiced @ 100 yds.

Hold tight, jerk right!

"...M2 clone, so it's 150 grains..." M2 Ball used a 152 grain bullet.
"...current production military 30-06 ammo..." No current military production of .30-06 anywhere. The cartridge is considered obsolete by militaries everywhere. Don't think it's still used in South America either.
"...the 147gr FMJ..." Made for 7.62NATO and not for great accuracy. Last I heard NATO Spec was 3" at 100. Mind you, 3 grains isn't going to make any difference.
Those Everglades bullets are likely Sierra's. Possibly seconds. Seconds work just as well as any bullet too.
"...Speer made a..." Yep. Discontinued. An SP works as well as an FMJ out of an M1 Rifle or any other semi-auto. Still crying about Winchester discontinuing the Al capped Silver Tip.

Another vote for Hornady FMJ. In .223 their 55gr FMJ’s accuracy rivals their V-Max out to 100yrds when loaded near max with Varget
