Just finished my first reloads. 270 win, Hornady brass, CCI primers, h4831sc with Sierra 130gr SPBT Gamekings. Case length is 2.535 with 2.54 listed as max. First batch (5 rounds) is 56gr powder (min listed). Gonna work my way up in .5 grain increments to 58grains (59 gr listed as max). Max overall length for 270 is 3.34 (or so I've read). I'm at 3.24 (four rounds) with my my very first round at 3.18

Any thoughts, any advice would be much appreciated!

Step one. have fun.

two. You will probably find improving accuracy as charge weights go up. once you are more comfortable with your new skills, you will probably be increasing your test charges to near-max, where many rifle powders have their most accurate nodes.

three. At this point, your OAL should be at about where factory lengths are. Right now you are looking for sympathetic charges. After you find a good charge weight, you might want to get more technical with your OAL. Just double-check and make sure you're really in spec. Without looking at a manual, I can't say of the top of my head how yours are. I think someone will chime in with comments on that.

four. have fun!

five. remember denial is the first sign of addiction!
