I did a search here and a few other places but really couldn't find that much info on personal experience (I'm guessing since they are fairly new).

I've been in the market/saving for a Bushmaster M4A3, but my father-n-law gave me the High Standard today. He purchased it a few months ago and I was the first to fire it and have been at the range every time it's been fired (hell, I think I've done the most with it).

In either case, he is left handed and was looking to pick up a Stag Arms LH AR and finally did today. Since he didn't really have a use for 2 and he likes to give stuff away, I got it.

I still plan on a Bushmaster purchase in the future but this should hold me over for a bit. But, I'd still like to hear what anyone has to say about their experience with this brand.

Thanks.

Go see what the guys over at ar15.com have to say but from what I've heard, the hi std is a nice AR...congrats!
Hey, does your wife have any sisters? I could use a father-in-law that gives guns away

HAHAHA, I've been asked that more then once. Hell, last week he gave me his Beretta 9mm CX4 Storm with 5 mags and EOTech sight.

I've been looking over at AR15.com as well, thanks.

Can't speak for their complete rifles, but High Standards lowers, at least, are fine. I built up an AR with a HS stripped lower, and I'd compare it with my Stag lowers. A lot cleaner than my Bushamster and DPMS lowers.

Well, the owner of hi standard , I see at most every gun show that comes to houston. I've talked to him a bunch, talked to a bunch of the other dealers at the shows that i know, talked about him and his ar's. this is mostly anecdotal evidence at best, but the product that i see looks fine, most all the other folks there say , he backs up and stands behind what he says and sells, I've even met a couple of the guys that were origional colt ar designers, workers, etc., that now work at H.S., and also say good things about the rifles. So I would not be worried to buy one, if I was in the market for one myself.

Good suggestion, DMK!

My father-in-law, I recently discovered, has a small collection of "Wild West" guns... but it's unlikely I'll ever end up with them. If he did, though, a big steak dinner would be in order for him...

Glad to hear what you guys have said and I'm looking forward to take it to the range tomorrow (later today I suppose) and shoot it as my very own.

We offered to buy his lunch today after the gun show (where he got his left handed AR) but he wouldn't accept. That's just how he is.

He gave me the rear sight off the Stag Arms AR that he bought today as well as a Leopold scope and a scope mount w/ triple rail system. But, I'm thinking I'm going to put on the EOTech from my Beretta CX4 Storm instead...then I'll buy another one for the Beretta at a later date.

Some photos, nothing fancy and don't mind my shorts/feet in the frame...

Very nice! Best of luck with it.

The Eotech with that ARMS 40 rear sight will work very nicely on that carbine. I have a Bushnell Holosight (almost exactly the same thing) and ARMS 40 on one of my carbines and love them.
