I am looking for someone who has used or is using a Midwest Industries quad rail forearm on a carbine length AR. My question is: does it lock up tight? Is it secure enough to mount a forward grip to without play? Would it hold zero with optics?
Boiling it down: Is it worth the money or should I look to another brand even if it's more expensive?

As always, if this has been answered previously, please direct me to that thread as my search failed to answer my questions.

Thanks,
Mech

My MC-TAR17 locks up very tight on my Stag-15 carbine. I don't have a vertical grip on it but it shouldn't put that much stress on the rails. Overall it's a very nice and solid, however if you intend on putting any optics on them just spent the extra fifty bucks or so and get the free floated model.

I recently installed the MI non-free float handguards on my Stag upper and they fit very tight! (I skinned up my hands trying to get them on. :D) I have a Tango Down VFG on them and it is rock solid. These are quality handguards.

Mine lock up tight. I have a vertical foregrip. As far as the optic is concerned I agree with the free float comment. My EOTech is mounted on a LaRue mount which is on the receiver.
