I did a quick search, but it turns out that 10mm shows up in a lot of threads about everything but 10mm.

Anyway, on the shelf I have Unique, Herco, 2400, and W231. I do have a small amount of Blue Dot and SR 4765 that could get used up for sake of nothing better to do with it.

I also have a couple Lymans manuals, a Hornady, and various powder manufacturers data, so I will be comparing notes. But I have found that there is value in working the areas near where others here have found success.

AA7 and AA9 are the traditional best powders for 10mm.
Particular loads that have been accurate for me are:
180gn JHP and 9.0gn of 800X. Near Max/Max load so work up.
180gn JHP and XTP and 8.6-9.5gn AA5 has been very accurate (AA5 is also the most accurate powder I have found for .40). You might hit max at around 8.7gn, so, again, work up to these loads.
180gn XTP and GD-HP and 11.4-12.4gn AA7. Again, these are near max to max, so work up.
Blue Dot hasn't been as good for me as reported in magazines/manuals, but XTP-HP and 10.2gn is OK--work up to.
GD-HP and JHP and 8.2-9.4gn HS6--again, work up to and don't jump in.
JHP and 5.8-7.1gn WSF does well.
That's about it.
2400 has not done well in my 10mm guns.

There was just a thread on this less than a week ago. Either way, Unique is the way to go (out of what you have). I personally preferred AA#9 until recently when I found a wonderful load using Red Dot.

Thanks guys.

I forgot I have about 10oz of AA9 - left over after switching to 2400 for 44mag. Might be worth a try.

I'll go look. I used the search and it wasn't one that popped up on the first page or two.

Gary, I'm not sure how long that 10oz of AA9 will last you. My loads using that powder are up around 13.5 grains, which is why I switched. I have built loads using Unique and it's about half the powder per load.

Havok,

I'm sure you're right - probably not long, but worth a try anyway. Don't have it slated for anything else....
