Just looking for opinions on this little piece.

A friend has a 36 and the recoil is quite harsh with full power loads, but it is very accurate and very concealable. I make up reduced power handloads for it and for range practice it is quite comfortable. For carry he uses full power loads.

I am thinking the 29 will be very similar. Reduced power reloads for plinking and full power for carry. Plus I really like the idea of 10MM as a self defense round. Lots of power!

Any input, positive or negative, is appreciated.

do a search. you'll find alot of info.

G29...lots of firepower indeed! Keep in mind that the 29 is MUCH fatter than your friend's 36. Not only is the G36 Glock's only "slimline" (single-stack magazine), but the 10mm G29 is even fatter and bulkier than the other double-stack models like the G19/26 (9mm) or the G23/27 (.40SW). Some people might come in here and say that they carry it IWB all day long with no problems, but you'd have to be crazy to conceal this gun when there are so many other options out there. I prefer the full-size G20 10mm as a tactical/home defense gun to the 29 which is the "subcompact."

IIRC...

The Glock 29 is a compact, not subcompact... Same as the 30.

My experience with the G29 is limited. I only got my hands on one once at the range, but it actually wasn't that bad... about the same as my G33 (subcompact .357SIG model), which is a little stout, but nothing you can't shoot fast and accurately with practice.

I agree there are other guns that are easier to conceal. However, if the G29 fits you, and you can tuck it w/no problems, go for it. I carried a 1911/Sig P220 for a long time, so it can be done...

Cousin Mike - no, the 29 is a 10mm sub-compact. Glock does not make a 10mm compact currently.

Yes it is a sub-compact. I'm planning on picking one up shortly.

Superior versatility in the high-performance
caliber 10mm: through reduced dimensions
compared with the standard size GLOCK 20,
the subcompact GLOCK 29 is also suitable for
concealed carry. In addition to the use as backup weapon for hunting, more and more security personnel on patrol duty appreciate the comfortable firing characteristics and the grip ergonomics of the GLOCK 29 with a standard magazine capacity of 10 rounds.

I'm a big fan of the 10mm. I even paid homeage to it in my log in name. However the Glock 29 is not a pistol I would be interest in. IMHO if you feel the need for a 10mm than you need a longer barrel to fully realize its potential. I'd just as soon get a 40S&W or even a 9mm in a sub-compact.
