So, for Christmas, my amazingly wonderful wife got me just what I wanted, Marlin 1894C in .357 Magnum. It might have been all the Big 5 flyer's I left tucked into her romance novels.

It's sweet little gun. Comes to the shoulder like a dream, swings quick, and just looks cool. I think it will be more fun than a box of kittens.

But that's just it...I'm not sure how much fun it is, because I haven't gotten a chance to use it yet. :(

I spent the first three weeks of the year down in Sunny San Diego, for my job. Oh, there are worse places to be in January than San Diego, but I had to leave my new gun(and wife) alone. Since comming home, I've been working like a dog...142 hours of OT already this year. So...it sits in my new gun cabinet, alone and unused :(

At least there is a silver lining to this cloud though...with all my OT I've been working, I ordered a Charles Daly 1911 earlier this week, so when I DO get to go shooting, I can try two new guns!

Haha ... ''not used yet''?? Well ... in my case the present was ammo - lots of it .... 7.62 x 39 and some for Makarov .... so actually rather glad it ain't all gone .. yet!!! :p

No Xmas guns per se ..... they were all ''self indulgence'' before xmas!

Sort of....

The better half bought me a set of .45 ACP dies. I've cranked out 500 rounds so far, but I've only had the opportunity to test fire 7 or 8 rounds. I was able to figure out that I wasn't seating the bullets far enough though. So, soon I have to hit the range and really see how good I've done.

Not a Christmas gift, but I bought an HK USP .45 a month ago, and it's been too cold to get out and shoot. I can't wait to try it out, but the weather hasn't cooperated. No indoor ranges around here. Oh, I take that back, there is one indoor range, but it's a private club, and the atmosphere there is very unwelcoming. The members are very unfriendly to newcomers.

Not un-used, but I have only taken my 50th Year Single-Six to the range once.

Yeah,I have ammo I haven't used yet......too freakin' cold to shoot in the yard and the combat range at my club is too icy....although I did snow blow an area in my yard to shoot yesterday.....maybe this weekend I'll be able to shoot my Christmas ammo...

Amazing what some people with complain about!

Christmas before last, I was overjoyed to see a long box under the tree with my name on it. It was just the right size for a rifle or shotgun and I was very, very anxious to open it.

Hours pass by before it's my turn. What was it? What is an H&H side-by-side? Was in a CMP Garand? Was it a Yugo SKS? Was it a cheapo pump action shotgun you wouldn't have ever dreamed of buying for yourself?

Oh, no!!

Upon unwrapping the box, I found my gaze fell upon an okay-looking oak display cabinet, with a glass front. Inside the box, resting on black velvet, and visible to any and all......Satan's Saber. :fire:

That's right, people, I was gifted with a sword, the only use for which would be human sacrifices.

Approximately five feet long, the double-edged blade meets the handle at a crossguard formed in the likeness of a demon with two sets of horns. One set arcs forward to catch an opposing blade while the second smaller set arcs down to draw the blood of the weilder of the blade....literally biting the hand that feeds it!

The handle is chrome-painted pot metal cast in the finest Afghanistani foundries.

Checking around at the local sword stores in the malls of the southeast, I would value this thing at around $300, and that doesn't include the cabinet. :cuss:

The best part?

I don't collect swords, worship the devil, dig Conan movies or raze whole villages. Where this idea came from is beyond me, but you can be assured that I promised the family some serious violence if they ever bought me another Christmas gift. Better to get nothing than to get proof that those closest to you pay absolutely no attention to what your are doing.
