Without having to wait for the right Colt to pop-up on the auction sites, does anyone make a commander length 9mm 1911?

I'm not looking to spend a fortune, but I would like something decent.

Kimber makes one.
STI makes one (Ranger I think).
Colt still makes a 38 Super that could be a 9mm pretty easily.

I think all options will be over $1000

Richard Heinie (www.heinie.com) gives somewhat of an endorsement of the Para LTC 9mm. His standards re the trigger pull may be a little different than the normal guy. This was his quote at 10-8forums:

"I have a LTC 9MM L.W. I bought this and tried to "Leave It Alone". I couldn't. The trigger pull was just plain unworkable. I installed a new sear, hammer and disconnetor. The rear sight is way to narrow to do anything other than sit at a bench and try to shoot tight groups. I left the sights on the Pistol, for now anyway, but opened up the rear notch to .156. Works great for my old eyes. The Pistol functions. I have had no issues of any kind using several different brands and types of ammo, with several different brands of magazines.
I will eventually change the sights to my own, but for now it is a good functional Single Stack 9MM, that is easy to shoot.
One that I find myself putting in the shooting bag everytime I go to the range."

Kimber makes one.

I had a Tac Pro II in 9mm (which is actually a 4" barrel, not a 4.25" Commander length, if that matters), and it was a superb pistol. Good reliability and ridiculously good accuracy and handling. Only downside was the flared mag well it came standard with -- I never had much luck finding 9mm 1911 mags with bump pads on them from any source besides Kimber. I ended up using Colt 9mm mags, and just manning up and slamming the heel of my palm hard up into the mag well to ensure seating on mag changes.

I have both a lightweight and combat commander Colts in 9mm and think that if I wanted another one I'd do as
dogmush suggested - but either light or combat weight .38 Super commander at around $800. and fit up a 9mm barrel for it.

It would give a dual caliber pistol usable for all sorts of competitive activity as well as SD and general 9mm plinking/practice.

...RIA in .38 super, less than 400 bucks ; 9mm barrel, less than 100 bucks = two 9mm 1911's for 1000 bucks with 100% warrantee !!!!!

I recently picked up a Para USA (Ordnance) LTC in 9mm. This is the lightweight model that has the alloy frame. It also has a Match grade barrel and the accuracy proves it. The trigger breaks cleanly at 4.5lbs. It has a new style rear sight that I like much better than the previous PO rear sight. I took it to the range ans shot both targets below at 15 yards free hand.

Checking to see if it shoots to point of aim at 15yds.......it does very nicely!

Unloading one mag as fast as I can also at 15yds
