Anybody switching calibers due to ammo costs?

well...on the fence; the guys from the hunting camp were hot & heavy about getting a reloading press & necessary components to do a variety of handgun & rifle cartridges; we all seem to have pet projects or life circumstances that are interfering with completing the setup;

I already fire less 9mm out of my Beretta (defense loads proven, good acclimation to platform) to allow some more practice with my Ruger Security Six in .357 mag/.38 spl (recent acquisition) and my S&W 629 in .44 mag/.44 spl (recoil control issues, recent acquisition); I don't see myslf shooting the .44 mag much until we get the press completed & running or until near hunting season when I'll be resighting it for shooting single action with full bore hunting loads; I already have allotted my .38 spl & .357 mag brass for shipping to mastercast for discount purchasing on their reloads: http://www.mastercast.net/amo.htm

I've got 2 rifle calibers that need tweaking (.25-06 for varmints & .300 wsm which hasn't been fired yet); my handgun shooting will be easing off in the coming weeks; overall answer...robbing Peter to pay Paul & tricking Paul for a loan to sneak money back to Peter ;)

We had a gun show in town about a month ago and the opportunity to buy a complete Dillon loading set up presented itself. Even though I was only half committed to the idea I bought it all. I have started on .38 special and working up loads for a S&W 10 and a Marlin 1894c. I guess I'm shooting more center fire now. Probably add 9mm and .45acp soon.

I've always enjoyed my .22's, and I bought a sweet .22 pump at the same show, so I've got to exercise that too:) It's great that we have the .22 to fall back on.

I have to buy all of my own gear, guns, and ammo for work, though I do get reimbursed for ammo. I just switched from a HK USPc 357sig to a Beretta M9 due to the cost of 357sig ammo and to consolidate calibers. So now my on and off duty weapons are both 9mm and I bought a 9mm Kel-tec SUB-2000 that uses the same mags as the Beretta and that rides in my gear bag.
