I finally made the jump, and bought a .50. I've recently been doing alot of casting and was wondering if the .50 BMG would be a good candidate, and if so, any tips? Thanks-

There was one guy on Biggerhammer.net that did some casting for .50 BMG, said that he never got the results he was hoping for.

From what I have read on the subject....no, it is not a really great idea.

Seems to be related to the rifling depth and twist rates. Cast lead 50's will be really heavy for their length and won't be able to be driven very fast either. Leading was very bad on the experiments I have watched over the years.

Also, the BMG case is HUGE, and doesn't lend itself to reduced power loads. Hard to be consistant with the relatively small powder charges floating around uncontained in the case.

If it amuses you, please don't let me rain on your experimentation. But, I'd not think you will be very happy with the results you will get.
