I just got off the phone with Senator Sherrod Brown's office (D-Ohio). I had called to ask for his position on some of the current hot button issues and related bills that are currently passing through the Senate (AWB, Magazine capacity limits, universal background checks). I ask so I know what specific issues to try to write to him about in the future. His representative that answered the phone was very professional but said that she was unable to comment on the Senators stance on any of these issues or bills but could pass my concerns on to the Senator. I asked her to relay my opposition of each issue with a brief explanation of why and she took my name and other info. It just struck me as odd that she couldn't tell me his stance on any of these issues. Has anyone else had a similar experience. My other Senators reps were glad to give me a point by point explanation of where he stood on each of the issues as was my House rep.

I e-mailed him and he stated that he believes in and supports the 2nd amendment "but" (he flip flopped and basically said that) when things like Sandy Hook occur we need to review the rights and how they apply. :scrutiny:

So, in other words we should let the inmates run the asylum?

That is exacly what we would be doing by changing laws based upon the actions of people who are LITERALLY insane criminals.

... when things like Sandy Hook occur we need to review the rights and how they apply. :scrutiny:

I wonder if he would be just as willing to "review" other civil rights... ya know, like whether it might be best to revisit the oppression of minorities, because they do seem to be the ones committing the most crime in urban areas... we wouldn't want to bring back slavery, mind you... but maybe just reintroduce segregation, or maybe have background checks for those that want to live in affluent neighborhoods. If it saved just one child, that would be OK, wouldn't it?
