RESTRICTED SALES TO CALIFORNIA STATE GOVERNMENT

We do not support communist or facist entities, either foreign or domestic, and therefore NO SALE OF ANY ALS PRODUCT will be made to any agency, department, or employee of the STATE OF CALIFORNIA, including any municipal government therein, while the states UNCONSTITUTIONAL gun ban on small arms and 50 bmg weapons remains in effect.

That statement is on the ALS website. That really motivates me to buy their product. Anyone got any experience with them?

The owner of the company won first place in the "hunter" class two years ago at the FCSA championships. It's one of the uppers I'm looking at for a lower I'm gonna register as a .50 AW.

The date to buy is gone - but the date to register is in early 2006.

You can still buy a .50 upper as it's not regulated, it's the receiver that you needed to have. The cut off date is April '06 to have them registered. :barf:

FWIW, I read an article that was basically a letter to a police chief or high level police person who was basically saying 50's should be outlawed. The author of the letter went on to say that he (as a manufacturer) was apalled that that a police officer would use his status to further encroach upon the rights of law abiding citizens and that he (author) was thinking about a gun in front of him for repair/service and that it was for the officer's agency. He more or less said it was difficult for him to offer his products and services to an agency who was using media hype and claims based in fiction to further the ban on rifles for normal civilians.

As I read the letter I was very pleased to see a manufacturer say (more or less) that he was rethinking his business dealings with someone using scare tactics and other unreputable tactics to ban his legal product from the hands of everyday, law abiding citizens.

The shocker came when I saw it was signed by the president of Barrett firearms.

The above notice on ALS' website was not nearly as eloquent, but I agree. You know what, if it is too dangerous for me then the police/government don't need it either. All of this sporting purpose stuff is pure crap. The 2nd Amendment doesn't mention sporting purposes anywhere. And in reality, a .50 BMG rifle for a civilian is more for sporting purposes than a 9mm. About the only use for a .50BMG for most people is leisure and long range shooting for fun and competition.
