I have recently acquired an LC9. Being a "bigger" guy, I can almost always front pocket carry it with no real issues, however, it would be nice to have a IWB option as well. So, does anyone know of a hybrid holster, perhaps something with a recessed or a removable clip that would be a good pocket holster as well as an IWB? I know that there are "clipless" models which are really tacky pocket holsters which are not supposed to work loose from the waistband. I've even tried my Blackhawk size 3 IWB, but it invariably works loose.

Thanks

Can it be done? Probably. Is it a good solution? No. It's worth the money to invest in two separate holsters. A Desantis Superfly is the best pocket holster I've tried - works great for my LCP and my 740 Slim:

The Cross Breed super tuck is the best IWB I've ever tried:

The only problem w/ the Super Tuck is that after you've worn it for a while, you realize with a holster this nice, you could really tote a bigger gun if you wanted to and before you know it you're back in the gunshop scoping out the XD subcompacts....:D

I've seen guys use those cheap Uncle Mike's nylon IWB holsters with a clip. The guy stuck it and a 1911 in his front pocket.

Not for me, though. I'd get a dedicated holster for your planned use.

I agree, the best solution would be 2 dedicated holsters. I often must change attire midday and thought having only one holster in tow would have simplified my life a bit. Thanks for the replies, they are certainly true enough and I have scoped the holsters you speak of many times. I would love to find a holster in which I could carry (and conceal) my stainless S&W 645 but I don't think I ever will. So for now, I'll stick with my lc9; at least for a little while. ;)
