Anyone know where to find Silvertips?

I can't find .355 or .400 Silvertips any more, anyone know of a place that still sells them? Midway used to carry them, but no longer does. :uhoh:

That's because they're no longer made. The silvertip was just a lead tipped bullet with an aluminum cap stuck on top. Any lead tipped hollow point will do the same job.
 
Looked around at the my usual suspects and everyone is out of stock. They are still listed as a stock item with Winchester however. Midway shows that they expect them in stock by 1-31-08 so you may want to wait and see or just go ahead and put them on backorder.

If you want a premium hollowpoint, Remington Golden Sabers, Speer Gold Dots, and Hornady XTPs are all available as components. The XTP has a reputation for accuracy. I like them.
 
I've loaded Golden Sabers and XTP's, both with much success. Really, I'm looking for a Silver-colored HP. Know of one?
 
are you hunting for warewolfs? just kidding! i am assuming you are looking for handgun bullets?!? i love silvertips also, i can't buy the silvertip bullets (they do not sell them as a reloading component) for relaoding my 45acp, but they sell loaded ammo, so i am going to do that. i do not know of any other mfgr. who makes them. i also have had GREAT luck with hornady xtp's. if i can not get silvertips, they are my second choice. i believe functionally they are the same, but silvertips look way cooler. i have also heard lots of good reports on remington golden sabres also. i bought some 185's for my 45, but i haven't fired any yet (we are in a cold snap right now). i looked for a long time for discontinued .308" rifle silvertip bullets, and a member of this board sold me 200 of his old stock. i just sent him the money last week, expect to get them end of this coming week. i wish you good luck! did you look online at some of the other shooters supply warehouses? ( mid-south, old westen scrounger come to mind).
 
Since I haven't read that the werewolf population is shrinking, that can only mean it is growing. And the fact that noone has proposed hunting limits must mean that the numbers are growing astronomically. I'm trying to do my part. But in all seriousness, 165g silvertips loaded in nickel cases over 9.9g of Bluedot look great and shoot well. My supply is exhausted, and I seek to restock. Does anyone know of a good silver colored HP
 
Not silver, but you can spray moly then polish a standard HP for a pretty cool looking round. It's kind of a dark smoke gray with some sheen to it. I made some 357 mag with Moly Golden Sabers just for fun.

As to the Silvertips, check Gunbroker. They come up from time to time. If you load .44 Mag you'd be in business:
