I've been shooting my 1911 low hold which never presented an issue. As of late, I've gone to a high hold with my thumb over the grip safetyas it gives me better accuracy and repeatability.

Issue being, with a high hold I have issues consistently depressing the standard grip safety.

What I'm looking for is a standard cut grip safety that has a palm swell. Anyone know of one, or is this about to become a fabrication project?

It would be considerably easier to modify your existing GS to disengage earlier then to change it out. If you know how to disassemble and remove it simply clamp it in a small vise and file on the lower surface of the arm that blocks the trigger. Go slow and take off a little bit and reassemble and check. You will probably get to dis- and reassemble multiple times to achieve a small rotation of the GS before it releases the trigger bow. When satisfied with the release point fie or stone a small radius on the bottom corner so the trigger bow can smoothly clear the tip of the arm. Any good smith can do this for you if you wish.

Thanks for the input.

I already had it apart looking at it and decided that I'm just going to take a jewelers file to the safety. If i put a straight edge up the mainspring housing and onto the installed safety, i can't pull the trigger. Right now it has to be below the MSH.

To begin with I'll just take it until a straight edge will make it shootable, then do any tweaking from there.
