Anyone seen/bought the new CZ 557?

I'm interested in seeing if anyone has some first hand info on the new CZ 557. I guess this rifle just came out recently, there isn't too much in the way of buzz or reviews to be found on the interwebs yet.

CZ claims that the 557 sports a new bolt design that's optimized for peak accuracy, but doesn't really go into detail on whether the bolt is a modified mauser style, or something altogether different.

The 557 Lux looks like it would make an awesome brush gun to me. If CZ imports the lux in 6.5x55 I don't know if I'll be able to hold myself back from plunking down the cash and becoming a beta tester. For all the 6.5 swede connoisseurs out there, is the 557's 1 in 8.7 twist fast enough to shoot well with 140's out of a 20 inch barrel?

A 557 in 6.5 would be a sweet setup. I would like to see one........and touch one..........and.......probably buy one..............

The key change is the use of the short spring-loaded extractor and plunger-style ejector protruding in the receiver onto the head of the cartridge case. Not to mention the short travel striker."

Yes. That rate of twist is fine for 140gr. 6.5x55.

I guess that's the confusing part to me, it seems like if the changes to the bolt are that the long Mauser-type extractor has been removed and replaced with a short spring loaded extractor and a plunger ejector, then the bolt is really more of a Remington type bolt than a Mauser type bolt. If that's the case, why does CZ describe the 557 as a "rifle with a classic look and Mauser-type bolt action"?

Maybe CZ intends the phrase "Mauser-type bolt action" to communicate the fact that the bolt has the standard (for Mausers and most other modern bolt actions) configuration of two front locking lugs, in which case the vast majority of bolt action rifles available today would qualify as "Mauser-type".

Dang CZ is going cheap on us, just like the Winchester Model 70. First it was the 452 being replaced with the easier to manufacture and less expensive 455, now this...

The rifle is probably just fine, but it saddens me to see this coming.

I suppose there are advantages, such as using this action for a prone rifle, one doesn't have to feed through the magazine to get under the claw. One can just toss a cartridge into the action and then close it.

Sigh. I think I will keep my 452 and 550.

A friend has a Mauser made in the 70's (I think). It has a short extractor like you would find on a SAKO or Vanguard, not the "claw" that I expected.
