As much as I like my BPS's, I would never buy one for home defense. You can't just drop a shell into the ejection port, you have to close the action, put it into the magazine, then work the action and feed it from the magazine tube. That slows down reloading.
Of course, if you have to reload your shotgun during a fight, you're in deep doodoo anyway.

Right and the lack of a lifter gate makes loading the magazine faster and easier in my experience. With my 3.5 inch Stalker I could drop one 2.75" shell into the opening and push it home with a second shell making the two shell loading technique much easier than a shotgun with the lifter gate to contend with.Not exactly true! All you got to do is move the action forward about 1/4" and you can drop a shell in and close the action just fine. It's not difficult.
