Found this on another board. Some folks were upset that the BATFE declared handguns with verical fore grips 'any other weapons' so they proposed a change.

A BILL
To clarify the definition of ‘any other weapon’ in the law
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the `Wrongful Interpretation Act'.
SEC. 2. CLARIFICATION OF DEFINITION.
Section 5845(e) Chapter 53 Title 26 United States Code is amended by:

Inserting the following between “rifled bores,” and “or weapons”:

‘ or a vertical fore grip,’

(e) Any other weapon
The term “any other weapon” means any weapon or device capable of being concealed on the person from which a shot can be discharged through the energy of an explosive, a pistol or revolver having a barrel with a smooth bore designed or redesigned to fire a fixed shotgun shell, weapons with combination shotgun and rifle barrels 12 inches or more, less than 18 inches in length, from which only a single discharge can be made from either barrel without manual reloading, and shall include any such weapon which may be readily restored to fire. Such term shall not include a pistol or a revolver having a rifled bore, or rifled bores, or a vertical fore grip, or weapons designed, made, or intended to be fired from the shoulder and not capable of firing fixed ammunition.

So does a vertical grip make it so a pistol must be fired with two hands?

The whole aow, sbr and grip thing seems kinda pointless at this point. Most weapons used in crimes are (and have always been) standard pistols and rifles.
If its not to prevent an atrocity then wheres the reasoning for a law?

If you had a snowballs chance in hell of getting a bill through, I think you'd do better to go for the brass ring and try to do away with the fiddly definitions.
I dont see where a folding pack gun is somehow any more or less lethal than a double/single barrel pistol/rifle/shotgun with detachable/folding/collapsing stock and/or forgrip(s).

I wish we could!!!

But not even pro gun Republicans like Ron Paul have proposed that

Actually two Republican senate candidates proposed just that in 2004 (Pete Coors and Alan Keyes); both lost their races. In any case, I believe Rep. Paul has proposed legislation that would have the same effect in the past.

Sadly it has to come from candidates like Keyes who even scares off pretty serious republicans. I can't believe the GOP even put him in the race.

Anyway at least this would eliminate one restriction of a pointless law.

I've always thought it would be cool, just for display purposes, to mount one of those "GripPod" VFGs onto the accessory rail of a Glock or such.

I'm thinking of whatever the name brand is for the VFG that has two little wire legs that can deploy from the shaft, to be used as a quick-deploy bipod.

I think they're a little silly myself, but apparently at least some HSLD-types have them in Iraq if rumors are to be believed.

Why? Just because (maybe in a few months) we can...
