7000 grains per pound. Easy enough to figure out. 308 sized cases typically have a charge around 40-48 gns. So at 45gn median, that works out to be around 156 rounds per pound.

Totally depends upon caliber and load. Also this should be in the reloading forum. Anyway, there are 7,000 grains of powder per 1 pound.

So .308, middle of the road average about 45 grains each, 7000 divided 45 is 155 cartridges.

You move up to .300 Rem SA Ultra Mag you get about 105 cartridges.

You move down to .223 and you get about 280 cartridges.

About 4.1-4.4gr of Titegroup in 9mm, so that's about 1,600 rounds per pound.

About 25gr of H335 in .223 with a 55gr FMJBT, so that's about 280 rounds per pound.

And that's all I remember off the top of my head.

cartridges/lb. powder

Since there are approx. 7000 grains of powder in a pound and my favorite308 cartridge has 42 grains I can get approx. 166 cartridges per lb. of powder.

Alright thanks guys. I'm thinking about getting into reloading for my 7mm-08 and my future .243 target/varmint gun.

You mean people still buy those dinky little one pound canisters?

My local shop only carries the 1 lb canisters, if I order off the net I pay the extra $20 fee plus shipping is another $12. With the $32 I save buying local thats almost 2 extra Lbs. of powder for me. Or 550 extra loads.

what I have found is that there is no way any of the locals around here can compete with powder valley and widners if I order 4 or 5 of the 8lb kegs even with the haz mat and shipping. RG

I can never afford the 8lb containers. If I saved up long enough to have $120 in-hand, I would have to forgo reloading/shooting for a long while.
