AR 15 questions

A co-worker offered to sell me a complete Bushmaster post ban lower, no more details available at this time.
what's a good used lower worth and what would I expect to spend for a good upper? I checked Bushmasters site, everything seems to be in the $500-$600 range for post ban uppers; that about average?
I'm just after a shooter, not interested in match quality, varmit barrels etc.
In fact, I think I'd rather have a carry handle than a flat top just for nostalga.

Complete and used? Offer $110.

A new stripped is approx $89, and a parts kit is about $50, so I'd say $110 is fair.

The standard price for a decent quality NIB complete upper (w/ bolt, charging handle, etc.) is $400-$500. The prices you saw on Bushie's website are MSRP - try the AR15.com Equipment Exchange if you want something used but cheaper.

I also went the carry handle route - to me, it just ain't an AR-15 without the carry handle . I can always mount that TA31 I'm saving up for later...
