I just put together a 16 inch AR with a flat top upper and a 16 barrel. (with the regular frount sight) I purchased a regular rifle scope and a set of med Weaver Quad lock rings that are to short. The scope touches the rifle and it looks like the front sight will be in the line of scope. Any sugestions on mount height for the rings. It would be nice if the front sight lined up with the crosshairs.

Check out YHM for cheep risers ($16.00) that won't look awful.
+1 on not seeing the FSB unless your scopes lowest setting is less then 2x.

I've had good luck so far with the Burris PEPR mounts. They raise it up and move it forward for good eye relief.

I just used a set of Weaver 1" Extra High Quad Locks for my Redfield 4-12x40 and it put the center of the scope right at 1.4" above the barrell. Found them at Wal-Mart for around $10.

I'm waiting for the Burris PEPR, but they are out of stock everywhere right now. But this is working for now, just enough eye relief and seem to be sturdy.

I also could not find a Burris PEPR but did find a American made DNZ that looks close to the Burris. My only concern is that it only has two screws per ring to hold the scope in place. Hope that is plenty because I ordered one.

Bullskater, Have (2) of the Burrris PEPR scope mounts for both my AR's. I also have a Burris 2-7x 32 Fullfield II on them each. On low power you don't see the front post on either rifle. Got my mounts from SWFA for $79.99 each delivered. If you want the RRA Tactical Rail A2 sight you can put this mount on it and use both the scope or your irons, but it is a reach to look thru the scope. Got the scope on flebay for $169 delievered.

I think Burris went overkill on the rings. 12 screws to hold a scope on seems a touch much. Great mounts so far though (have 4). Midway is out of stock on the 1" ring mount.
