lOOKING TO ADD AR-15 COPY TO MY COLLECTION WAS WONDERING WHICH BRAND YOU GUYS WOULDS REC. WISH I COULD AFFORD A COLT BUT WALLET NOT THAT FAT ! THERE WAS A COMPANY THAT MADE A 22 RIMFIRE VERSION THEY STILL MADE?

welcome to THR.
between my dad and myself we have owned a total of 5 bushmasters and that is including the 2 we have now. we love ours and we are very happy with them. i have had zero problems out of mine, it keeps going and going and going, and they are accurate enough for a battle rifle. bushmaster makes good stuff.

hopefully 10-ring will tell you about his rra ar which is another great maker of ar's, as well.

there are sevearl people that make .22lr conversions for ar's and bushmaster even has a production model in .22lr, but if i were you i would buy the .223/5.56 and then get the conversion upper.

also as a new member, you should learn to use the search function it is a great tool and there you will see many many threads about everything ar.

First off, turn OFF the "Caps Lock" button on your keyboard. Thanks.

In regard to you question, I'd highly recommend Bushmaster. I love mine. It handles .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO equally well.

Colt and Armalite are very nice, but like you, they're too expensive for me.

I've spent the last couple weeks shopping around for ARs, and I've come to the conclusion that you really can't go wrong with any of the major brands (Bushmaster, Armalite, Colt, Rock River, Stag, DPMS). You can save a significant amount of money (~$150 or more) by buying the upper and lower receivers separately instead of buying a complete gun.

I would look on the equipment exchange on AR15.com. The dealers there seem to have the best prices on new guns and parts and there's always good quality used stuff too.

Bushmaster, DPMS, RRA and Stag are all good brands....I roll my own though :)

Heres mine I just built, Parts are:
Upper- Stag Arms 2H
Lower- Stag Arms
Lower Parts Kit- DPMS

The way it is here I have a total of $715.00 in it, It is a awesome rifle, I plan on building three more of them but a A1 clone and a 20" rifle, Here are some pics:

bushmaster is great.

I have a DPMS and think that quality is about equal but it was about $100 less and came with 2 mags. Stag arms also makes a very good AR... If you can live with that big deer head on you gun.
