Anyone have an 18" barrel with a mid-length gas system? I have become intrigued with the idea ever since I saw a 6.8x43 upper configured as such.
If you have one...who made it, how was it made, etc.

Thanks!

Two: my 6.8SPC upper and my 5.56mm LMT MRP upper both have mid-length gas systems.

Based on my experience, it's better to go with a rifle-length gas system in an 18". They run reliably and the gas pulse is less abrupt, which means the rifle is upset less during recoil.

Where can I find dimensions for these barrels? I am interested in the dimension from the receiver extension (forward face, where the pin for upper receiver alignment is) to the gasport. Once I know this, I can have one made to my specifications. Thanks.

I heartily agree. Also, why give up the sight radius if you don't have to?
