I just acquired a Stag Model 3H low profile upper. That has the flat top rail and gas block rail. I have Yankee Hill rear flip-up and front flip up sights that are designed to work on the same plane that I have taken from another AR. The problem is that the flat top rail of the Stag is about 1/4" (or a bit less) higher than the gas block rail. My rear sight doesn't adjust for elevation. Is there going to be enough adjustment with the front post to make up for the height difference between the two rails? Has anyone tried this? I really hate to have to buy sights for the gun if I don't have to, and I'm not thrilled about burning ammo to find out if some knows the answer to this or thinks they do.

Thanks.

I am sure someone here will know. You could also try AR15.com and find out

I think I have the answer. I took a good look at the sight plane through the sights with the gun level and the shorter front sight puts it about the same amount of height low as the gas block rail is low. So, I'll spring for a gas block front sight and do it right. It's not like I specifically bought the sight as I already ahd it so nothing is lost. I put together two ARs in the past week or so and this was the only thing that didn't work out, so I can't complain.
