Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!!

Barrel mark says 5.56 NATO 1x7 , then beneath it -CHROMED-

Any idea who makes this barrel? I have heard Wilson(who are they) Not that it really matters, I got the Kit and couldn't be more pleased!!! (btw Palmetto is running the $49.99 on thier lowers again this weekend)

Second can anyone point me to any good links or info on proper maintenance and lubrication, tons of good build videos on youtube and I will DL the info off of ar15.com before I start my first build. I Am very excited about the idea of owning my own AR! Never thought I would!!

You guys are a wealth of knowledge. Thank You!

Rock River uses wilson barrels in all of there stuff as far as I'm aware. They are very good barrels. As far as who makes yours I don't know from the pic but someone here might be able to tell you.

as far as your maintenance question there isn't much to know just make sure the bolt and carrier has some gun oil on it and it should run fine unless mistreated.

I heard that FN makes barrels for Palmetto. I have had more than a few AR's and I think that my new Palmetto M4 is as nice as any other AR I've seen.

i live down the road from their ridgeland sc retail store. i did buy their lower when they opened there in oct. for 49.95:D. i stopped in last week to do some shooting at the indoor range and asked who made their barrels--reply was fn.
;)

The 16" 4150 chrome lined barrel used in their carbine upper says HPT/MPI tested. Palmetto has said Wilson does not MPI test. Even though is is not a hammer-forged barrel, it seems it may be made by FN.

Lower

Just ordered my lower $49.95 on sale again this weekend!!
This is gonna be my first AR build. For the guys that say your first AR should not be a build(I am pretty handy around the house and with tools) It looks like my sons lego's are more challenging! LOL...... plus after watching some youtube vids it just looks like FUN! It seems to me that anything serious can go wrong it's gonna be with the upper!--and i am not rdy for that yet!!!

Merry Christmas all!!

My new PSA upper got here yesterday, so naturally I had to take it out this morning for sighting in. It shot way low. I had to move the front sight pretty much all the way up and then move the wheel on the back sight to about the 500 yard mark to get it low enough at 100 yards. This is an A3 upper with a detachable carry handle. Anyway, with my handloads, accuracy is quite good, around 1 3/8" for the nine shot group at 100 yards. This is a pretty max load, 26.7 gr. H335 over a 55 gr. Winchester soft point.

I shot some SS109 from Lake City and some 55 gr. Federal FMJ that did not group quite as well. Surprisingly, the Herters 55 gr. FMJ (steel case) that I bought at Cabelas shot pretty well.
